Caught Up

This inflatable jet pack made his whole costume

homemade dragon costume cost almost as much to make as buying a costume. Lots of fun to make and Cara liked it but it wasn't practical to wear around. I ended up carrying her head and tail by the end of the night

In a backwards way I am all caught up with pics and blogs. Go to the first blog in November and work your way to the top and you will be all caught up with the Wimberley family.

1st grade field trip

Cara's first grade class took a field trip to the pumpkin patch. They got to go on a hay ride and have a picnic and pick out a pumpkin. Cara wanted a tiny pumpkin but she had to settlr for a small one. She got to ride on a school bus(taht got lost). I think she had a fun time. It was fun for me to get to focas on one of the kids at a time and I think Cara enjoyed the one on one attention.

Palo Duro

Big boy running down the trail all alone

This was our 6 mile hike we decided to take before we drove 6 hours home on Sunday. We hiked with 6 kids and 4 adults but Kirk had just run 37 1/2 miles on Saturday. The rock formation in the back is called the lighthouse.

Kirk after his first 12.5 mile loop. Lookin' good honey!!

Our kids the rock climbers. There were awesome rocks behind our camp that the kids had a blast pretending were their hideouts. Obviously, I have a to more pics but I won't post them all here. Suffice it to say it is very beautiful in the canyon in a deserty kind of way.

So Much to do , so little time

I have been waiting for Kirk to upload some pictures to our big computer from the laptop so I can blog with pictures. I guess I could have just blogged on the laptop but I am more comfortable on our office computer. I can't believe it has been two monthes since I blogged.

First and foremost, September 21st, Karissa and Cara were baptized. It was a really awesome day and I am very proud of them both.

Caleb turned 3 on the 22nd and had a Buzz Lightyear party. I had to order his stuff from ebay because Buzz is old news. We bought him a Buzz costume for Halloween. By far, his favorite gift was his trains and train table(that I bought for $10 at a garage sale).

September 25th Karissa had her 10th birthday. We took her and a FEW friends to a jump house place. It was a lot of fun and we plan to take our family back sometime, soon.

In other news, Kylie and Caleb and I all dropped out of school. In hindsight it is one of the best decisions we have made. I work fewer hours at the salon for the same money and Caleb and Kylie are much happier. Kylie is actually herself, again. She will start kidergarten next fall. She is already reading and we will continue to work on that for the rest of this year. Caleb is back into his normal schedule and loves being at home. He also loves having Kylie to play with. He is getting more boy and more agressive the older he gets.

I really don't remember what else we've done. We headed to Palo Duro Canyon for Kirk's 50 mile run, October16th. Our friends, the Martins went with us. It was perfect weather and we all had fun. I was sick with fever one night but we still had a great time. Kirk is allready planning his next 50 miler at Huntville in December. I am sure he will blog about his run or if you want the details he can e-mail his run report to you.

When we returned we had Cara's birthday party. she always has really unigue ideas for her parties. Cara had a dragon party. We made dragon hats ordered from Oriental Trading and then Kirk dressed up like a dragon and the kids attacked him with water balloons. They had to rescue mini treasure chests from the dragon's nest. I made a dragon cake. It was fun to make and the kids liked it.

The Run

The Warm-up

The Triumphant Finishers

Karissa, Jeremy, Kylee, Cara, Kylie and Caleb (He's way into his finishing sucker)

Kirk and I have been wanting to involve the kids in his running and Monday we had the opportunity. There was a kids 1\2 or 1 km run sponsered by the Fort Worth Running Club on Labor Day. We had to leave our house at 6:15AM!!!!! The kids were pretty excited. When we got there they had real numbers for all the kids. Each 1\2km runner got a medal and each 1km runner got a trophy. The kids were a bit intimidated by all the kids. They had fans all along the course and even had a friendly cow to cheer them on. Cara almost quit at the end and the cow ran beside her and cheered her on. I didn't get a picture because I was right beside her. The picture of Caleb and Kirk tell the whole story. Cara ran the whole 1km, Karissa ran the last half of the 1/2km, Caleb ran none and Kylie finished strong. Needless to say, Kirk was a bit disappointed but it's a start. Caleb begs to run with Kirk all the time but he wouldn't run at all.
Dad, Caleb and Kylie. Karissa finished between us but our photographer said she came by to fast for her to get a picture. Mom and Cara

After, the race they had a bounce house, face painting, clowns, balloons, and free food and drinks. We hung out for a while and the kids had a good time.

School trials

Yesterday, was supposed to be Caleb's first real day of preschool but he was sick:( He had to have breathing treatments all night and some of yesterday. He was feeling better last night but sounds horrible, today. Kylie also had a bad day. She cried when I dropped her off to school. I had to talk her into staying. She ended up being fine and having a good day. I went back up and had lunch with her and she was all smiles. I think she was just really tired from the thre day weekend. So , hopefully tomorrow we can see how preschool is going to work out for us.

Caleb's 1st Day

I didn't blog this on Tuesday because I wasn't sure if we were going to make it through the week or not. Caleb's first day of pre-school is officially next Tuesday but I had to start this Tuesday for inservice. It has been a long time since I have worked outside the home and I am exhausted. Anyway, for right now we are going to tough it out and see what it is like only having work\school two days a week. This week we had in-service four days and we are both wiped out and tired of school. Tuesday I will be responsible for 9 two year olds for 5 hours. It should be very interesting. Caleb does great at school he is just very tired when we come home because he only gets a little nap.

Monday, August 25, 2008

I can't believe it has been nearly a month since I posted last. We have been hanging out at the pool and with friends. This past weekend we visited Wf. We met our beautiful new niece, Emma Elizabeth. Kirk ran in the Wee-chi-ta Trail run Sunday and then we came home and got ready for the first day of school.
All the girls were so excited last night thay had a hard time going to sleep. This morning they were up before 7 and ready for school by 7:35. Karissa had a nervous stomach and wasn't able to eat but She will do awesome. Karissa's best friend(one of them) moved to a different school this year but they saw each other at meet the teacher. She knows her teacher, Mrs. Stansberger, already and knew about 10 kids in her class. Cara (Mrs. Hawkins)has her best friend in the world in her class plus about 5 other kids ahe knows. Kylie knows no one but has her sisters old kindergarten teacher, Ms. Kielmeyer. She walked right in her class as Cara gave her instructions on where to put everything. She looked so tiny! I was a little aprehensive when it was time to leave her but we both did great. Caleb doesn't understand why his big boy school didn't start today, too. He has been very good but bored. He likes to tell me it is day time and we don't sleep in the day time. Anyway, his school will start soon enough.

So, that leads to our big change this year. I will not be watching Peyton or any other baby.YEAH. It was fun but exhausting and over a 40 hour commitment a week. This year I am going to teach pre-school two days a week. Caleb gets to come with me and will have his own class. We are both very excited. So I will have three days of just me and Caleb at home. Anyway, I am going to post a few pics and then enjoy the peace until rest time is over and it is time to pick up the girls. I cheated and took the teacher pics on meet the teacher night. Last year, we took so much time getting Cara settled Karissa was late and we didn't get her picture with her teacher. I am also posting a few pics from the circus. We went for $7. The kids had free tickets from the library summer reading program and I found a $7 coupon. It was fun but I paid $18 for two lemonades

:( Why do they have to make everything so outrageously expensive and then we pay it. Cotton candy was $12 and a sno cone $9!!!!

Small Group

Kylie and her friend Zoe jumping with total abandonment. Kylie has completely taught herself to swim. She started this summer off with a "fat suit"(inflatible suit) but soon discarded it and now is even diving to the bottom of the pool. 3 down one to go, maybe by next summer they will all be swimming on their own.
This is Dylan, Caleb's buddy. He was on vacation with us and they play awesome together.
Karissa with her BFF, Hannah(Dylan's sister), also from vacation. Sadly, they are in the small group that split from us.
Look at those blue eyes.

In the spring, we joined a new samll group at our church. We meet every other Sunday night at one of the couples homes. There are lots of kids running around but it is great fellowship time. By May, Our group had grown so large we had to divide but we decided every couple of months to have a combined fellowship. It is amazing both groups have continued to grow. Last Sunday, was our first combined fellowship. It was a lot of fun but a total mad house of kids. The people who hosted had an awesome pool and I don't think our kids got out in the whole 4 hours except to eat. It is so amazing to feel like part of the group. I love our kids having close friends at church!! Cara was visiting Grandma and Memaw for the week, so she isn't in any of the pics.
